What is a Fuel Pump?

The fuel pump is a device that sucks fuel out of the fuel tank and supplies it to the injector. The conventional fuel pumps are located outside of the fuel tank and are thus referred to as the out-tank types. In recent years, the in-tank type vehicle fuel pumps have become mainstream.
As another current trend, the module type has become mainstream. In addition to the pump, the module type integrates such components as a device that detects the level inside the fuel tank (such as a potentiometer or the fuel level arm), the fuel filter, and the pressure regulator, which controls the fuel pressure.
