A regulator adjusts the charging voltage generated by the alternator to 13.5V-14.5V to protect the electrical components inside the vehicle.
The charging systems consist of an alternator, a regulator (usually mounted inside the alternator), and internal wires. The purpose of the charging system is to maintain the charging condition of the vehicle battery and supply electric energy while the engine is running.

What is a Regulator?

Alternator

The regulator has the role of maintaining a constant voltage in the electric system of the vehicle such as the headlight, dashboard, and car stereo. The failure of this component or any signs of failing will significantly influence the vehicle performance.

Symptoms in case of failure

  • The light dims or blinks
  • Dead battery
  • Unexpected changes in the engine performance
  • Malfunction indicator light (MIL) turned on

If you notice any of these symptoms, inspect the vehicle immediately and carefully.
